There is none. Is there a reason why you need to move the gallery directory?

We have another application that has existing images on the disk, we wanted to avoid duplication.

If it matters, we using the API to build the Gallery entry. Can we put a path into the entry?

I'm afraid not. It won't help anyway because the system automatically resizes the images (into several formats) for optimal delivery performance and in doing so generates its own file names. 

In addition, the next release supports gallery videos. The treatment of videos is slightly different than images. It's better off just letting the system do its job.

My reading of the documentation gave me the impression, that using the API we will need need to resize the images manually before loading.

When we make the API call to create the gallery entry, will the system resize the entries?
Is there another API call to make to resize the images?
If the image is already properly sized, will the system leave the image alone?
