    Hi there

Just a question around the scale-ability of the product list and the product filter.

    • Say I have a category that has 6,000 items in it and I have clicked that category to view the items.
    • I should get a list of 6,000 items paged by whatever the paging value is.
    • Those products have filterable attributes that cover a variety of variations in those products.
    • Will the product filter successfully pick up all available filterable attributes from those 6,000 products and show them as filter check boxes?

I know the filter draws on the listed products for the filter checkboxes. I just want to confirm it scales to a large catalogue as one can often end up seeing a paged selection of a very large list of items.

    Regards
    Rob

    Hi Robert

6000 items in one category is certainly at the high end and will work if you have good hardware and network. We do have customers that exceed this range and works well but their hardware may be different than yours. In order to build up the available filters, the Storefront has to read up the available attributes from the 6000 products and any variants. It does try to read from cache and bulk but it is still a heavy processing. The best way is to spin up a test site and simulate this by bulk importing 6000 products with attributes into your catalog to try to see if your hardware can handle it. The first load is always slower as the cache is seeded. I hope this helps :)
