We want to add the option for a customer to pickup from our Retail Store and not pay shipping.

Can you suggest how we can setup this up so the customer pays online but is not charged freight and physically collects the order from our retail store.

    Hi Michael

Just add a new shipping method under Configuration > Shipping and name it "Store pick up" or something similar. Set the Type to "Custom rate" and under the Rate tab just make sure it's $0.00 so there is no charge.

    I hope this help.

I have the same need, however having Store Pick Up always listed as a free no cost shipping option then prohibits the use of Fallback shipping types.

    Scenario:
    User has a good address:
    - Displays Local Pickup (always)
    - Displays FedEx list of options because shipping can be calculated

User has a bad, incomplete or invalid address as determined by the shipping service:
    - Displays Local Pickup (always)
    -
(the shipping service doesn't return anything so the customer only sees Local Pickup as an option and no other message)

What I'd want is to display another custom shipping option of
    - "Shipping Cost To Be Determined" or "Call for Shipping Cost" or something similar that is set as a Fallback Shipping Option

Fallbacks show when no other shipping service rate comes back and because Local Pickup always shows, the Fallback never gets shown.

I've tried to get created and actually have the "Local Pickup" be a Fedex Ground or something and make a set of service/fallback options, but then I can't figure how to make that crafty version of Local Pickup show with a zero dollar cost!

    So I'm STUCK.

Is there a combination of settings and shipping options that can get us what we need?

I don't have an easy answer. The only workaround I can think of is to

    1. Create a Call for shipping (quote type -- but don't set as fallback so it always shows)
    2. Edit the Checkout template and use Javascript to to the Call for shipping radio button choice on load if you detect there are more than the minimum shipping choices available.

In the future, we'll think of a way to address this problem. Thank you for your feedback.

Thank You for thinking about it. YES, that is exactly what we decided to do... we worked with Javascript on the page to modify the options and combinations...

But long term it would be great to have some other feature, because we'd love to have real fallback options
