Order alert email

Last updated on 2024-09-12 7 mins. to read

Email alerts are sent out whenever a new order is placed on your shopping cart. By default, the Storefront will send the alert to the sender email address listed under the Configuration > General settings.

The Basic template rule can accept XSL tokens to inject dynamic data. Below is the sample XML input that you can retrieve token values from:

Hi,

In any version of Revindex Storefront, is there a facility to display the fields from areas of the database other than the XSL tokens mentioned in http://www.revindex.com/Resources/Knowledge-Base/Revindex-Storefront/rvdwktid/264?

In our environment, we have specified the "Email recipient" in "Configurations -> General" and in a custom configuration parameters table (outside Revindex) we manage a configuration parameter called "Order Alert Email Recipient Name". We would like to retrieve the name stored there and display in the order alert email.

So, instead of having "Hi," in the order alert email, we could have "Hi John," (or something similar depending on whatever value stored in that configuration parameter table. Hope this makes sense. Please advise if that's possible. Thanks.

If you can figure a way to store the data with the user profile (you can create your own profile definition), then any profile information is exposed to most of the email templates as input.

XSL also has the ability to retrieve data from external source via the document() and unparsed-text() function where you can pass a URL with parameters and retrieve the data back. So in theory, if you can expose a URL that can return data that you need, you can let the XSL query your data externally.
