Setting up a new store. I have a  problem with variants on every item i've created.

So i have an item with 5 variants working as i expect, displaying the base product summary info regardless of which variant is selected. But when I change the price on a variant it causes the summary to stop displaying for that variant.  To fix i go to summary field on variant and pick Source to delete the

Cant' be right that I need to do this every time a price is changed. What am i doing wrong?
