required phone field by SF and not in DNN

    Hi Stephen

    In the checkout the customer gets a choice if he wants to register or to proceed as a guest user.
    Or the customer just want to register first and then starts with filling the cart.
    When the customer proceeds to register then he must enter all the required fields in DNN
    2 phone fields are default not required in DNN.
    - Telephone
    - Cell

    The customer chooses not to enter a phone number
    (The customer does not know at this point that SF requires a phone number)
    Is it possible that this is the reason some customers get problems with the checkout because “phone” is a required field in SF?
    I have several customers who are registered users and do not have a phone number in SF.
    questions:
    - is it possible to make the phone field in SF not required ?
    - Which phone field from DNN is used by SF, Cell or Telephone ?

    Hi Ton

    The phone number is not a required field in DNN, but for ecommerce we feel it's important to be able to contact the customer in case of payment problems or disputes.

    If you don't want to require the phone number, you can try to edit the custom display template and remove the required validation and modify the JS to set the phone value to a dummy value such as "111-111-1111" before submitting. If you need help modifying the template, you may engage us to do the work for a small fee.
